Produits Matra Inc. from Canada invested in a new cross-cut line from System TM. Their focus was mainly on efficiency and security and System TM designed a line that lived up to Matra’s expectations.
The optimizing cross-cut line consists of an Opti-Feed 6000 solution with a capacity of five raw packs of lumber before the tilt hoist. From here the workpieces are transported through a double unscramble to singulate the workpieces one by one before going through the moulder.
The infeed unit to the moulder is capable of feeding up to 85 workpieces per minute in 1,219 mm (4’) lengths. After the moulder, the workpieces are automatically transported into a scanning unit that indentifies the characteristics of the wood and this information is then sent to the optimizing computer.
To ensure maximum performance of the line an operator has the opportunity to trim bad ends off the workpieces through a trim saw.
After scanning the workpieces are securely transported to the three optimizing cross-cut saws model Opti-Kap 5003 with a speed of up to 85 workpieces a minute.
The optimizing cross-cut saws cut the workpieces into lengths ensuring an optimal utilization of the lumber, thus increasing the efficiency of the production. After cross-cutting, the workpieces are sorted according to length and quality on a sorting belt.
The layout of this cross-cut line allows Produits Matra Inc. to run the entire system with only two operators.
